چکیده

The paper studies the adsorption of gallic acid from kinetic and thermodynamic perspectives, using several synthesized polymers with amine functional groups. These compounds, defined as P1, P115, P-Ba 2 and PHH, and obtained by appropriate chemical transformation reactions on crosslinked pyridine and acrylic copolymers, were characterized by weight and volume exchange capacities, their values being of 2.70 meq×g/1.26 meq×mL; 5.736 meq×g/0.187 meq×mL; 9.510 meq×g/0.510 meq×mL; 1.304 meq×g /0.523 meq×mL, respectively. The obtained results indicated their adsorption capacities in the following order: P115 > P1 > P-Ba-2 > PHH. A study of the adsorption kinetics and thermodynamics of gallic acid was carried out on the most efficient resin. The adsorption isotherms were fitted to Langmuir and Freundlich models and the thermodynamics parameters were calculated for comparing the total adsorption capacities. The results obtained will be used to develop future procedures for the separation of natural polyphenolic compounds.

Adsorption thermodynamics and kinetic investigation of aromatic amphoteric compounds onto different polymeric adsorbents.

The adsorption behavior of p-aminobenzoic acid and o-aminobenzoic acid onto the different polymeric adsorbents was systematically investigated as a function of the solution concentration and temperature. Experimental results indicated that the equilibrium adsorption data of the four polymeric adsorbents fitted well in the Freundlich isotherm. The adsorption capacity of multi-functional polymeri...

Insight into the adsorption of tetracycline onto amino and amino-Fe3+ gunctionalized mesoporous silica: Effect of functionalized groups.

In order to study the influences of functionalized groups onto the adsorption of tetracycline, we prepared a series of amino and amino-Fe3+ complex mesoporous silica adsorbents with diverse content of amino and Fe3+ groups (named N,N-SBA15 and Fe-N,N-SBA15). The resulting mesoporous silica adsorbents were fully characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrom...

TiO2 Pigment Suspension Behaviour upon Adsorption of Polymeric Dispersants

The influence of polymeric dispersants containing different functional groups on TiO2 pigment particle suspension was investigated at pH 6.0 and 9.5, using rheology and particle size data. The dispersants chosen were polyacrylic acid and modified polyacrylamides including homo and copolymers modified with carboxylate and/or hydroxyl groups. The pigment suspension was strongly affected by both p...

A comparative study of malachite green removal from an aqueous solution using raw and chemically modified expanded perlite

Adsorption of malachite green (MG) from an aqueous solution onto unexpanded perlite (UP), expanded perlite (EP) and NaOH-modified unexpanded perlite (NaOH-UP) powders has been investigated. The effects of contact time, pH, initial dye concentration, adsorbent dosage and temperature have been evaluated. The adsorbents were characterized by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis, Fourier transform...

Investigating the Performance of Amine-Grafted Silica-Base Adsorbents in CO2 Removal from a Natural Gas Stream Using a Diffusion Based Mathematical Model

Abstract:  In this study adiffusion based mathematical model was developed to compare the performance of amine-grafted adsorbents with that of 13X zeolite in a fixed-bed adsorption tower which is used to capture CO2 from both humid and dry nitrogen stream under industrial conditions. The results show that the performance of amine-grafted adsorbent and 13X zeolite is almost the same in the dry ...
